Co-creative director of Maison Oui, Jennifer Karly, attended the Melbourne Fashion Festival opening runway, bringing you the freshest insights from Melbourne's fashion scene. From the vibrant energy of the runway to the stylish street looks that captured the essence of the festival, here's your inside scoop on what's trending for the season ahead.

A new vanguard of fashion girls has emerged, unafraid to clash prints and embrace maximalist proportions. Bold, adventurous layering and silhouettes inspired by the early 2000s are making a major comeback. The looks they sport are meant to be seen and celebrated.

For the seasoned fashionista, it’s all about starting with a classic base and layering it up for maximum impact. Statement pieces, whether it's a printed overdress, a chunky pair of sunglasses à la the queen of Vogue herself, or bold statement earrings, are essential for creating a look that’s both high-fashion and eclectic. It’s all about mixing high and low, old and new, to create an outfit that speaks to your personality and style.

And of course, we can't forget the avant-garde creations you only get to see at Melbourne Fashion Festival, with boundary-pushing designs spotted throughout the crowd, redefining the very essence of fashion.

Speaking of beauty, the Lancôme Touch-Up Bar was the perfect spot to freshen up and try their latest products. With expert touch-ups, it’s no wonder that many of us stopped by for a little glow-up before heading in to catch the show.

A photo opportunity that caught our eye was at the Westfield photo op spot, where the blend of art and fashion made for a stylish backdrop to snap your festival look. The perfect moment to capture your personal style and take home a bit of Melbourne Fashion Festival magic.

On the runway, we saw a wonderful mix of interchangeable pieces that promise longevity, championing the idea of conscious shopping. Even in a time of uncertainty, the creativity and excitement at the festival remind us why fashion will always bring joy. Eclectic influences, ranging from the 60s to the 2000s, showed us that style is all about personal expression. A standout moment for us was the closing runway by Romance Was Born - so dreamy, so colourful, and absolutely filled with joy. A true reminder of how fashion can lift our spirits.

In the photos here, Jen wears a custom look from Sienricher, a Maison Oui brand. The Wells blazer has been reimagined into an oversized mini blazer dress, featuring double-breasted detail. Paired with white lace tights and the most stunningly comfortable heels, Elle by Harlo Shoes, with delicate tulle ruching and hand-sewn pearls. To complete the look, a classic Chanel white pearl crush bag ties together the classic, yet striking monochromatic look that our designer envisioned.

A huge thank you to the incredibly talented Mish Winters for capturing these moments - her photos perfectly capture the essence of Melbourne Fashion Festival!
